Tattoos of Tibetan Refugees: Jigme

Share

Jigme came from Utsang. He got his tattoo as part of a healing process. Before he got it, he says that he was on the wrong path — he was doing a lot of drugs. Last year, he says he ‘saw the light’ in a way, and decided that he needed to have this tattoo, the Buddhist ‘Wheel of Life’ tattooed on his heart chakra.

In India, he works hard as an artist, selling his work in a small stall on the side of the road. Jigme could not show his face for this photo, he is in the process of trying to go back to Tibet to see his parents.
